About Me
I am honored to be the Professional School Counselor for Liles Early Learning Academy. I was born and raised in Baytown, Texas where I attended elementary school at Travis Elementary, junior high at Baytown Junior School, and then graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. After becoming a proud product of Goose Creek, I went on and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Houston Clear Lake. I then furthered by education by receiving a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Lamar University. I have worked in education for many years where I began as a teacher, then went on to be a Reading Interventionist, and now a School Counselor. I am so excited to work with the students, staff, and families here at Liles and to help our Explorers achieve excellence in every way possible.
School Counseling Program:
Liles follows the ASCA National Model for a Comprehensive School Counseling Program which includes the four service delivery components:
-Guidance Curriculum: differentiated, developmental lessons designed to take place in the classroom and taught whole group.
-Responsive Services: preventative, remedial, or crisis oriented which includes individual counseling lessons; parent consultations regarding individual student needs; and outside referrals.
-Individual Planning: academic and career guidance; parent and student consultations regarding goal setting and planning.
-System Support: The use of data to support parent education trainings; community outreach; program and staff support activities.
Character Education:
Building character is very important, especially in early childhood. At Liles we focus on character education daily. Our character traits are respect, responsibility, gratitude, empathy, perseverance, honesty, cooperation, courage, and creativity.
